Car is coming together nicely, all the chassis work is complete and painted up, suspension cleaned and bolted back on with new bushes, diff sorted, new brakes fitted, fuel lines sorted and the engine going in on Bank Holiday Monday all being well.

Meanwhile, time to clean up the outside. The hood is looking very dirty and has quite a bit of verdigris on it. Whats the best thing to use to clean this off and make it look a bit newer again? Im going to start with a good old clean with washng up liquid first.

Thanks

Nick

Used Renovo myself.

Cleaner first, which lifts the dirt out and rinse off and let it dry.

Then I used the dye (Blue) as my roof was pretty faded. Multiple coats, thin layer at a time to give it a chance to soak in and dry between coats for a better result. I masked off the window and the body.

Then used the protector to seal for water proofing. Mind you other people seem to use other products for this, available at DIY stores and they seem very happy with the results.

Then after all this, I managed to drop the mid section at last years Wedge Fest and scuffed it in the process furious Will have to look at it again this year and at least remove the finger nail scratch marks where I tried in vain to grab hold of it before it hit the deck.

Dont fancy using renovo, never been a fan of painting fabrics to revive them. I see Fabsil gets some good comments elsewhere on the pheads forum and some people use Thompsons Water Seal to good effect too. This car was stood outside for nigh on 2 years before we got it so the hoods an even, if slightly faded, shade of black.

I know what you mean, but it didn't do too bad a job, considering the roof is only up when the car is in the garage.

If there is a reasonably cheap and better way to dye the roof then I'd be interested!

The Renova restorer really is good and is only water with a die so not like 'painting fabric'.
The waterproofer is OK but general opinion is that the cheaper options are just as good.
