In a previous post I described how one of the front locating lugs on the targa section on my car appeared damaged and insecure.

Well, I opened up the area and extracted the offending part (cutting through on the underside of course).

There is a steel insert in the (nylon?) lug/peg, which had evidently oxidised, resulting in so much swelling and distortion that it had cracked the fibreglass surrounding it and made the underside of the surface sit 1cm higher on the screen top frame. That's why the panel would never sit properly.

Anyway, after removing the bit of old rusty steel and thoroughly cleaning everything up, I replaced the lug, and put a flat piece of steel across the face where force would be exerted, tucking it under the hollow fibreglass each side. Araldite epoxy was used to bind the bits together, and left to set for a few days.

Finally I bought a tube of Isopon P40 to finish the job off, making sure it was worked into all the nooks and crannies.
This is just a mix of chopped f/glass, resin and hardener...ideal for small jobs like this.

Total cost less than a tenner, and better than a new roof.

Off out to the dragracing later...enjoy the bank holiday all.smile

Did you take some pics? If you did you could have sent the lot off to Gandalf for an article on the TVRWP.

Just a thought.
