More or less decided on a wedge to buy this winter.

What do I need to look for?
What Wedge?
Can I used as a daily driver, or should I keep the MX too?
Are the residuals stable?

You're going for a Wedge now? hehe

Well if you want to use one as a daily driver, it can be done realistically, but I would suggest keeping the MX for the hack duties and keeping the Wedge for neighbour annoyance on a sunday morning hehe

What Wedge? Depends entirely on what you want or what you want to spend

280i Tasmin (V6) can be had in coupe or convertible form for as little as £1500, belters can be found for little more.

Ford V6 engine is usually very strong, sounds brilliant (with a bit of tinkering to the zorst naturally) and goes fairly well, but if its proper noise and relatively quick accelleration, you want a 350i upwards.

The 3.5 RV8 is a fairly solid old lump which is capable of returning 26mpg average when driven normally. Still quick considering age etc, but the noise is where its at.

Expect to pay anywhere from £1800 for a ropey fixed head to £6k for a 350SE (3.9 engine standard bodywork..limited edition)

Residuals are fairly stable on the V8's, V6's have taken a bit of a battering and keep getting lower, but it wont be long before they come up again

If your budget is north of £5k may I recommend a 390SE or 400SE?

Usual things to look for would be electrics, damp carpets, leaking roof and seals, outriggers and various other chassis points (get it on a ramp)

Someone will be along shortly to add to that list of that Im confidentwink

Quick glance at your profile compells me to inquire whether you've had a few too many sherberts? scratchchin

Best thing to do would be to go along to BBWF & I'm sure you could have a couple of rides & have a good look at all the models & go from there.

I'll be there in my Griff too, possibly looking to change back to Wedgedom, so you might be able to bag yourself a bargain curvy one . biggrin

Ignore him Nic, hes regretting leaving the fold and tried to become a mainstream TVR owner, but now he doesnt feel speshul anymore tongue out

I dont know if there are many Wedge owners towards the Peak District, but they now have a newly established TVRCC meet which is always a good place to start and ofcourse, you're always more than welcome at the West Yorkshire meet...usually have a couple of wedges there smile

lol Perhaps I need to explain to a few on here I'm a bit of a serial car swapper!

I've currently got a soon to be s/ced MX5 and an E30 325i convertible, had so many different cars in the past!

Always wanted a TVR, despite being an absolute Porsche fanatic...

TVR Wedge would be circa £7K to spend. I want a V8, mainly because I've never had a V8 before lol!

If you have 7k to spend on a V8 Wedge then either go for a 390SE or a 400SE. Both have the same engine more or less, but the 400SE is classed as a better looker because of the flushed front, arch accents and flared rear cills, plus the 400SE dash is better looking and would be fine for someone like yourself (although crap for me as my left leg is squished!)

Both are properly quick, sound good, but a bit heavier on fuel than a 350i

Easy: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/419181.htm or http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/425681.htm with one of the best engines ever. All of the Porsche race drivers chose these over the 911s, pity they never got the hang of pop-up headlights being out of view and clean whilst not in use though.
