I thought I'd have a go at the dash.
I went to a guy who made a counter top for my bar, I thought he may do it for me. He didn't like the look of all the holes
, but said grab whatever you want from that pile of off-cuts.
Close to the off-cuts was a peice of walnut, it was a full sheet, he sold it to me for his cost.
This is the stuff they use for counter tops and refacing cabinets.
The pattern was non repetitive, a big plus. (Well not in the range of the dash)
Anyway, glued it up using a glue called "shoe goo" as it is a flexible glue that will allow for different expansion rate of the metal of the lower panel.
Two hours "dremelling" and it's ready to go back.
I have decided not to polyurathane it, it would give it a nice glow but it's the polyurathane that cracks and eventually yellows. My Picture seems to have got degraded at photobucket, but it is quite an acceptable substitute.IMO.
