Okay, what's up with this? A bit of background. I've got the center console of my '85 Series "1.5" 280i apart for repairs/restoration. I found one of the mirror adjustment quadrant switch connectors to be poorly crimped so that the wire was nearly broken from the connector. This is the orange wire from the three-position mirror selector switch. I buy some 0.110" female crimp-type quick-disconnect terminals and install a new one.

Plug in the newly terminated wire and all seems fine - but not quite. The passenger's side mirror, that's the right-hand mirror in this case, works as it should through the quadrant - left, right, up, and down. But the driver's side mirror doesn't. All positions of the quadrant switch give left and right only, no up and down. The mirror adjustment controls had been doing everything right before the broken wire, though it's been while now that this has been connected.

Where are the mirror solenoids and motors located? Could it be something with the joystick switch? The selector switch? That's the entire system.

???!!

Thanks.

Thanks. I've taken a look at this. I'll have to ponder it a bit more to see how it might describe the anomaly I'm having.

Anyone know where the solenoids are located? And the motors that move the mirrors are where? In the mirrors? In the doors? I'll be givin' it a further look...
