Leigh,

On my car I think it would be a struggle to have room for the wider brake calliper without hitting a chassis tube. I will need to have a closer look next time I am under it.
I recently renewed one diff output shaft oil seal and that was a wangle for space to do it with the diff in situ - only just managed to get the disc and caliper off.

I would be interested to know if anyone has done the mod on a 400SE

Interesting indeed but as Steve Heath hasn't found the need to upgrade the rear brakes yet I think I'll concentrate my efforts on front brake upgrades.
On a side note... vented disks should make the inboard UJs last longer as there will be less heat left around to melt the grease out of them.

The rear discs on the jag were a common failing, they would crack and lumps would come off them in normal use, vented disc kits have been available using a standard vented disc from another manufacturer and a 10 mill. spacer for the caliper,on the wedge its lighter weight works in its favour and the discs do not get to a critical temp.so cracking is not a problem.Tempus smile

Talking of jags I blew away one of these this morning - the 4.2l supercharged one.

Note the end of what tempus said. Have you ever heard of a failure on a wedge?

It might have happened on the SEAC racer - I noticed that had vented rear discs.

(Am I sad or what, looking underneath wedges....)

I am always slightly worried about finding dangly bits, frown
but must admit to feeling a warm glow this morning as, hunkering down amongst the nether regions, I admired my shiny adjustable springseats. smile

Yep... 1999 sprinting at Stowe. The original discs had a scalloped edge and this would corrode and break. A piece cam off and jammed the rear calliper and I went into the infield. The scalloped edge was replaced with a solid one and no more problems. To be honest 99% of replacement discs are solid edge now anyway and I can't see many cars still running on the original discs...
