Wonky Window 2...the evidence
Discussion
You may recall that a couple of weeks ago my drivers side window fell off its perch, and I thought I'd fixed it.
There is a small piece of channel that an arm of the window mech with a 'mushroom' on the end runs up and down. The edges of the channel are folded over to retain the mushroom. This is what keeps your window on an even keel.
Over the years your channels and mine are quietly festering away, despite being greased. Eventually the mushroom comes out of the channel, and there's your problem.
Here is the offending item, with the two welded-on bolts, fitted with 10mmm nyloc nuts which hold the channel onto the outer face of the inner doorskin.
Some pics:

I'm going to have to get a new one made up.

Shouldn't be too hard to lash... er, fabricate something similar!

Ok, so here's my crappy drawing with measurements.
If anyone can make one I will pay a good price for it.
The steel is about the same gauge as a decent quality book shelving upright (the thing you slot the brackets into).
I stupidly threw out all my 'bits and pieces' that I could have made one from when I moved house.

Sorry the scan isn't brilliant.
Since half the lines haven't come out..
22mm measurement is INSIDE channel width. All other figures are EXTERNAL.
15mm and 20mm are to bolt/screw centre point to end of channel.

Well, what can I say fellas...overwhelmed by your generosity.
That channel seems ideal.
It's a sort of 'mushroom' on the end of part of the window mech scissor arrangement that runs up and down within the piece of channel, and because the channel has rotted away a little along the folded over edges, then the mushroom can pull itself out.
If you guys can work something out, I would be most grateful, and I will buy you some beers...at BBWF, if not before.
Just let me know if you're able to come up with a finished article.
Many thanks - Graham.
Shaun and Leigh....YHM !

Hi Graham,
I have this which appears to be about the right size. Def 25mm across and 22mm inside. What do you think? I can send this to you today if its OK.
Cheers Shaun

As its galvanised, I'm going to put some self locating studs in, should do the same job,I have this which appears to be about the right size. Def 25mm across and 22mm inside. What do you think? I can send this to you today if its OK.

As its not a good idea to weld galvanised stuff, as it can kill you.
