Looking for series 2 wedge
Discussion
Hello Wedge Drivers,
First let me introduce myself. My name is Severin Hendrikx, and i live in Haarlem (Holland near amsterdam). After a long time of saving Euro's and raising kids, its now time to fulfill my childhood dream: a TVR V8. I want to buy this car together with my brother. We both are long time car enthousiasts, I have owned several 1980s Porsches 911 and the rare and wonderful alfa 75 3.0 V6. Last summer I had a trip with one of my friend who owns a chimaera 500. I drove some miles with it, and what a car, what a sound. All the ferraris we overtook looked jealous!!!! I want one!
What are we looking for? We are looking for a series 2 Wedge (the one with the double trailing arms at the back). Engine 350, 390, 400, 420 is not important as long as its a V8. We are looking for a good condition frame, so no project car or restaurations. The SE or SEAC versions are top of our list.
So.... If anyone is considering selling their wedge, just give me a PM!!
thanx

Welcome and as I own two V8 Wedges I absolutely agree with your desire to buy one. They are fast, fun, reasonably easy to repair and amazing value for money, and sound superb...........
Not sure if it has to be a left hand drive for you? If not then DG Sportscars have a red 350i advertised at just under £8k however it's been for sale for some time now so I'm assuming they would be open to offers. There's also a 350i on Pistonheads which looks good value:

If you're after a larger engined Wedge then Tony/Elvis has a stunning red one advertised via the TVR CC also.
There's usually a great group from the Netherlands that head across to the annual BBWF also....
Cheers.

Yes we have a budget for it... but it all depends on the way the car looks. And how good the opportunity is.
For a really good 350i we would go for 8 or 9000 pounds
An SE would be in the range 9 to 12000
A SEAC Depending on te opportunity. 14-15 ish.
There is the peter wheeler SEAC, they asked 23k for it, but that would be too much for us.
Service history from the beginning or at least the last 10 years would be a good thing.. is the clutch recently done? The frame? Does the cooling system work properly?
The paintwork or leather for me is not so important. Nicely used is ok. A few scratches is better than a full respray. But i like original old stuff...
Hope this helps?

The red one from tony/elvis: you would have to help me with that one... I just saw the one pic posted here..
The TVR CC forum i cannot get into... is there any way I can get in touch with mister Tony/Elvis? His car looks very interesting.
The gray one from mr Brewer is super nice, if it would have pics of the rebuild. i understand is was the owner before him that dit all the work, and posted some pics of it five years ago on this forum...

Yes that helps a lot and apart from SEAC's you should find something with the budget you are quoting. Tony aka Elvis is a great bloke and his car is a nice example, better than some. Tony use's this forum so he will probably get in contact. Ref the TVR Car Club forums, you need to join the club which will then get you access to the forums and other features like Sprint the clubs mag etc.

Keith, if that's the one which Glen brought to BBWF 2016, I and a couple of others had a good look over it as a possible purchase, and decided against it. sj_hendrikx said:
what made you decide against it?
A look under the bonnet. It was, frankly, in pretty poor condition. Given that this was a car that (if it is the same car) was for sale at a TVR specialist, no effort had been made at all in that area. It just raised more questions about the rest of the car - I there may have been a few other issues as well, just cant remember them. sj_hendrikx said:
