Matching Numbers
Discussion
Lawfield Engineering, a company next door to Surface and Design and D&C Trim in Bristol Avenue (in part of the old TVR factory in Blackpool) had the build record books a number of years ago.
I got a photocopy of the page showing the details of my wedge when visiting them during a TVRCC weekend in Blackpool. The details included engine and chassis nrs, options, cost, and where the car was sent to (dealer)
The record book entries were in "order no" or "order date" sequence and thus different lines in the book cover different TVRs being built at that time. I think there were abt 20 books covering a period of many years of TVRs.
Suggest you phone them . Their phone number comes up on Google as 07810 018747.
If that contact no. does not work, D&C Trim or Surface &Design may be able to advise contact details for Lawfield Engineering. Alternatively a TVR owner in Blackpool may be able to advise contact details.

...nothing personal just my immediate reaction on seeing the porker logo on our beloved wedges page ;^)
The factory might have kept a log of this stuff but that will be long gone, probably, in landfill by now.
The only time pork is served with Wedges is in between a pair of baps covered in sauce....The factory might have kept a log of this stuff but that will be long gone, probably, in landfill by now.

We have a V5...And most of the time you will receive a large folder or bundle of paperwork as regards to all the money spent on them...You could do as Hamish suggests although its not quite a letter of Authenticity...Which brings me to ask..."Is the letter you hold there authentic to when the car was built"..Is the document as old as the car?...Or is it something that Porsche did recently...Bit like buying a modern antique..

Anyhow we know our cars are authentic...We don't need a piece of paper to confirm it...Just look at the wiring FFS...

Gentlemen being new to the TVR scene myself surely this is not the way to welcome someone whom has become enlightened.
It was meant to be lighhearted - hence the explanation with the smilie.Anyways welcome on board, Severin! I'm sure once you've tried a V8 wedge you won't want to go back to something that sounds like two bin lids being smashed together. Again, ;^)
I was going to post about this yesterday but couldn't decide how to put it.
Matching numbers is something I wouldn't associate with a TVR wedge anyway as they didn't use their own engines.
Some old Ferrari will have ......
Engine no Ferrari 123456
Chassis no Ferrari 123456
TVR will have TVR 123456
And Rover 54674228

Must admit to not understanding the attraction to the Porsche though in my youth I did briefly enquire about a 924 until it became clear what a rip off they were. On the other hand TVR I some what understand and for me it is a progression from MG ownership.Anyways welcome on board, Severin! Actually, thinking about this, in the UK we went through a number of logbook (V5C) formats. Plus, the V5 gets re-issued on a change of registered keeper (usually the owner).
So - if you are really lucky, there will be copies of the V5C going back to the fist owner in the document bundle. The V5C has the engine number on it (doesn't it? having typed this I need to check...) yes there's a space for it but it isn't compulsory to fill it in.
Once you are the owner you can pay for back copies of all the V5C's back to the very first one, to double-check.
