208i FHC Door Glass Seals
Discussion
I'm trying to work out whether or not I should have "waist" or "wiper" seals on the tops of my doors.
The black strip you can see running along the top of the door is a right-angle metal profile which is welded(?) to each end of the window frame.

If a rubber seal was ever fitted to this then it must have been glued to the inside of this strip.

Mark has suggested this seal . Wollies sell this version. Both will do the same job, but which one will work best?
What's on your car? If you've replaced these seals, did you do it in situ or did you lift the window frame up a bit?

There's nothing in the door so perhaps the seals weren't refitted when the car was reassembled?
Thats a big possibility...Personally I would order some samples from seals direct and try to see what would work...You most likely will need to glue something to the inner frame.....Ziga
Just had someone post up on the FB site and it looks like a felt type material that is stuck on the metal work...There are some ideas on Woolies site...Be careful as their postage cost is high...

You can see in this fine example that there is a felt type seal glued to the metal frame inside...

Actually there are some more...Weather window sweep felt/seal..

You now have my brain thinking...Does the metal frame have an exposed underside edge?...If so then may be something like this..? No.852

The 285 one is, I think for sliding windows like on early Mini's. The one you suggested earlier ie 685 is probably the one to go for if I can work out how to secure it to the metal piece. Either that, or the brush strip pictures above. Might the brush one be 489? If so, how is it fixed to the metal strip?

Not sure without actually seeing it...Is there a lip on the underside of the frame?Message Board | Wedges | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
