Good afternoon guys,
Have any of you ever tried to re-trim the frame around the windshield with it glass in the car?

You could consider cutting out any old rubber and replacing same using a rtv sealant. If you prefer the flush look and quick with the gun you can achieve a good flush finish with a plastic applicator.you have to be quick or the sealant will drag wasting the finish.Best of luck.

Good idea on the sealant but I was talking the inside. The current trim is biscuit, it's dirty and pealing. I changed the remainder of the interior to another color. Still need to change the A pillars and across the top of the windshield.

I'm going to have the car repainted in the next year or so. I might wait till then and just pull the glass and have it done at that point.

In the interim you could just dye the pillars to match your new trim, you can get leather or PVC dye in small bottles, just make sure you thoroughly clean the material with alcohol clean before you attempt to put anything on.

Check out furniture clinic and frost restoration. Believe glass has to come out for trim replacement.

I'm going to have exactly this problem in a few weeks. I'm going to try wedging THIS between the vinyl and the inside of the screen while the glue goes off and, hopefully, sticks the vinyl to the inside edge of the windscreen frame. It's just a theory at the moment so I've no idea if it will work.

I had a similar thought on using something. I was thinking maybe push it up in the same way with a piece of thin Plexiglas or something. Leave it in place till dry then pull out.
Same results anyway.

To hold the vinyl while the glue dried, I used a paint stirrer against the glass, and that was held in place with a pair of heavy duty suction cups.
