350I camshaft spec

Hello guys and Gales,
I have to built an engine for my LHD TR8 coupé, and would like to create something with the same character as my 350I' engine.
So, the first step would be to find the camshaft profile, then the modifications to bring to the heads, find the right model of pistons, the list goes on and on....
This TR8 3L5 engine won't have the same injection system, neither SU carbs : I'm thinking about an injection who loks like a 4 barrel carb, what's your opinion ?

I fitted a V8 Development's Stealth camshaft to my 3.9 litre V8. It was a fantastic camshaft, with okay bottom end grunt but revved all the way past 6300rpm. According to V8 Development's it will run standard, non-pocketted pistons. Its used on both EFi and carb engines. Give them a call and talk it through with them, they were very helpful. John Eales is also a guru on the V8s and will also give sound advice as he's built many hundreds of them.

Is there a way to find its profile, as the profile of the 350I camshaft, as I would like to compare ?

I recently replaced my standard SD1 Vitesse camshaft with the TVR51 camshaft that I understand is used in the 4 litre TVR engines. It was recommended and supplied to me by TVRSSW and turns out it is a Kent Camshaft! It is nothing mad and runs in a completely standard engine. Lift is around 1mm greater than standard. It has made a difference but as my original cam was worn down evenly around 1.5mm then an improvement would be expected! Midrange is good but not a high revving cam and idle seems unaffected.
It will be the same as the standard SD1 Vitesse EFi camshaft, so we just need the numbers for that.

Adam, if ETC6099 is the cam originally fitted to my 350I, allowing it to deliver about 197 hp, I think ERC2003, as a factory fitment to TR8 (with carburettors) is a "softer" cam : my first TR8, who was 100% original, was far less powerfull than a TVR 350I.
I'll follow your advice, and ask to RB if they have a datasheet for ETC6099.

I'll have a look at the Mileage this afternoon, Adam, but this 350I is pulling very seriously, so the wear, if there is any, must be unsignificant.Also note that the EFi has an effect on driveability too (as opposed to carbs).

About injection, that's the reason why I talked about a "false" 4 barrel carb, in fact an injection system as sold by some companies (iin USA if I'm not wrong), or, eventually (I think it do exist ?) a pair of SUs lookalike with hiden injectors.

I used the cam for the 400 chimaera. It was recommended to me by a TVR workshop in the south west but I can't remember which one. It seems to work well but my old cam was very worn so I expect any cam would have been good! I think it offers slightly more lift and a little more midrange. It is also commonly used in Rover V8 automatic applications for that reason so I am told.
Also, I did contact Piper cams who said the Piper 270i camshaft is a direct fit for the SD1 Vitesse/350i engine

I recently (6 months back) installed a new camshaft, as far as I can tell it was based on the 3.9 Land Rover Discovery 1 Range Rover Classic ERR5924 (shown a couple of times above) I presume ERC2003 version. I have only driven the once very breifly since install and it seemed OK, other than the odd start and idle to temperature, however it does appear to be a different profile from my original cam visually. I am finding it hard to get any detail of either the replacement cam nor the damaged one I removed. However I am not that bothered more than happy that the car seems to run better.
For the 3.5 I gleaned it was common for the TVR and others to run a 3.9 cam, that's why I plumbed for this one. However it is not the thrust plate version, or at least as far as i know, so my best guess is it uses the same or similar grind.
I can always change at a later date if I require something more spicy?

To throw mine in the pot, although it's not strictly a standard 3.5 cam it's by RPI who I don't see on the list but perhaps they have something to offer.
Type number is an RP1, think it was stated as 'fast road hydraulic' but couldn't find any mention of it last time I looked at their website.
I don't imagine they produced cams themselves so maybe bought in from Kent etc. - was in the car when I bought it (26 years ago last week).
Just realised it's 39 years yesterday since first registration...
