Gave up years ago on TomTom traffic Brett - it was always had spurious info and any local info was too late (a bit like local radio info) so you reacted much like everyone else and re-directed yourself in to potentially worse issues. In fact I think there is a case for doing the opposite to what Tom Tom (or local radio for that matter) says and use the originally planed route (every other b*gger has gone a different way and by the time you get to the reported issue its clearer than normal!

I've started using Waze, updated by humans in realtime.

Only had TomTom on for the traffic as being the weekend, radio stations think there is no traffic so don't bother with regular traffic updates. I never follow its re-routes, I do my own, if of course it warns of traffic in the first place. Used to work really well but lately it has gone down hill

Waze? What's that all about then?

http://www.waze.com/

Needs an Internet connection to get live updates, it's usually spot on in terms of traffic updates. Map errors are corrected by humans, I usually edit Colchester, A12 into London, A13 into London and M20/M2 towards Maidstone.

Yes, it does mine as well. Shame as it means with a car charger it's all but useless.

Think we went past this, one of my mates' relatives were involved. It didn't look too bad when we drove past granted I was going away from the m25
