its your car u can take it ANYWHERE regardless of what the insurance company say!
you can't - unless you pay yourself of course - (although that's what Autodex said) .. I tried to get mine to use Atodex and they refused, I needed more quotes, and they picked the one. Mine was fixed at St Georges in Camberley .. they did a good jobthreadkiller! said:

You pay for insurance and YOU call the shots they can only recommend a repairer, you can refuse their nominated repair garage and choose where it goes.As said it may take a heated discussion but Mikee is right
here you go:
Thank you for your email.
Our engineer's have reviewed the estimate for the repairs to your vehicle and unfortunately are unable to authorise the work, as the labour rate is too high.
As an insurance company we have an obligation to keep all losses to a minimum and can not authorise inflated costs. If you are not using one of our approved repairers we do ask for 2 estimates so we can compare the rates. Please send us another estimate for consideration.
Should you require any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

that was just the email .. many phone calls followed, and I can assure you that the wouldn't pay for Autodex to do it.

The Admiral group are cheeky feckers (much like any insurance companies). Although I thankfully have no experience of this, I have heard from various people that insurance companies will argue with you tooth and nail regarding where your car will be repaired however at the end of the day it's your call and not theirs to make.

Also look at your t&c's for admiral and get some advice i'm sure they have diddled you and you may have a good case for recourse.
Have been in same situation and made life hell for insurer being Z....H threatened to sue and halfway through exchanges i was advised my car had been sent for scrap!!!!! this was before agreement was made on a repairer, suffice to say it went where we wanted and they paid for a new front end which wasn't damaged originally after they decided to strip panels for spares.
Don't be bullied by the insurance world you have rights. HTH
