Hi,

Seems my dad bought a 2nd hand car without the socket. It is an 03 Mondeo estate. Ford have quoted £90 for one. How do we get around this? Can't go back to the seller really.

get a long reach 18mm socket and a club hammer hammer the socket onto the locking wheel nut and undo them this way then replace them with new ones.

You wont get a long reach 18mm from your local halfords will need to go to a good car shop

Are you looking to remove the existing locking wheel nuts? I'm sure many people know the answer to this one, but feel free to PM if you need any help. I've just done this on a set of bolts that I didnt have the key for

Take it to your ford dealer, i sheared the key socket on my wifes focus, dealer had a master set and after trying god knows how many finaly found the match. Theres only about 30 variations on each model. Charged 15 quid but saved a lot of hassle and potentially wrecking something
