1995 Fiesta zetec bearing noise.
Discussion
A colleague at work has a circa 1995 ztec engined Fiesta. With the engine running there is considerable noise, a screeching, rattling sound coming from the engine. I am almost certain that it is coming from a component driven by the main drive belt but cannot identify what the component is.
The component is on the drivers side end of the engine and sits behind the engine block between engine and bulkhead. The drive belt drives the alternator and power stering pump on the other front side of the engine then crosses over to drive this (unknown) component. The component is covered in oil on the underside and I am tempted to think it may be an oil pump or water pump. The bearings are very noisy. No a/c is fitted.
Being a classic Mini man doesn't help much with this modern stuff. Appreciate any advice. Thanks.
