How do I find out what engine is in it?

I've just got an Escort 1.8 TDi on the cheap from the GF's grandad but don't know exactly what engine is in it.

According to the internet there are 2 different types of 1.8 TDi engine around one which puts out 70 Bhp and another which puts out a nosebleed inducing 90 Bhp. Any ideas how I find out which one I've got? (It's considerably quicker than my old 1.1L 106 so I'm inclined to think it's the 90Bhp one at the moment.

If it's any help it's a V Reg Finesse.

If it's got an intercooler, it's the 90 bhp engine and if not it's the lower power one.

find the engine code. could'nt tel you where that would be though.
