hello drove wifes car otherday seams like it needs extra gear! 80mph 4000ish rpm is this right?

Yeah thats right. Mine is the same. The gearbox is geared for acelleration, realy good for trashing down a B road but on the motorway cruising at 70mph the engine is reving at about 3500rpm. Torture on a long journey.

my puma is the same a 100mph cruise down the m74 and m6 to england is rather annoying!

thanks for that! did'nt think fords could have but the wrong box in it!!!!! my daily oilburner is about 2000rpm so i really noticed it!
