The heated front screen on our S-Max has a six-inch wide strip that doesn't defrost... right in front of the driver. I'm assuming they're supposed to heat all the way across?

Anyone had any bother doing a warranty claim on one of these screens? Do you think the dealer will play ball?

Common after a few years for some reason. How old is it?

Does happen on older cars, due to the vibration of the car, the metal bits break and loose the connection.

Car is just over two years old.
Just been to the dealer.
Technician there reckons it's down to a couple of tiny (like 2mm across) stone chips.
Not very impressed at how fragile it is.

stone chips would only knock out the wires in that section(although i've NEVER has some fail due to a chip). Is it the original screen? Replacement ones seem to break quicker in my experience for some reason?? Ford CRC time wink

I had my Mondeo one replaced under glass excess on my insurance. A stone chip had caused one half of the heated screen to stop working.

They're about £350 to buy outright so I was quite happy to hand over £50 smile

There's two areas not working - both about 6 inches across, and one of them right in front of the driver. You can see a stone chip at the edge of each strip that's not working.
It is the original screen.

Think that's the route we'll have to go too.

Insurance is way forward then.
