How do I know which type of gearbox is fitted to my 1.8 focus, year 2000
According to the hand book their are two types and different oil in each one
All I want to do is to top it up

Does reverse have a collar to lift to engage it or does it just slot in?

From memory my old 2000 focus 1.8TDDI you pushed the gear stick down in engage reverse.

If it is diesel, it is the MTX75 (the one with the collar for reverse)
The petrol 1.8 has the IB5 gearbox.
