Cougar Fitting TCS
Discussion
I have a 1999 2l Zetec cougar and as I need to do the brake lines going to the abs pump Can I change to the Traction control enabled pump ? I am trying to learn more about the electronics in cars.
The engine ECU is OWL5 will this interact with the pump module correctly ?.
Ignoring the difficulty to fit the pump is it possible ?.

I'd severely doubt that you can just change to a TC pump and have it work off the bat. Likely you'll need to change the ECU, unless it uses a standalone system. And then you might have to use a different loom, if there is a light on the dash, your car might not have it, etc etc.
Best asking on some Cougar specific forums (maybe Mondeo ones if they use the same setup?), otherwise PassionFord is a good, general place to start.

Thank you for your reply,
The TCS/abs module is mounted on the pump and having checked the wiring in the car its fitted the only question I have is if the engine ecu will interact with the TCS. I know that some of the V6 cars do but no definitive answers on the 2l ecu.The MK2 mondeo shares the same setup for reference.
