ford focus 1.6 diesel engine upgrade
Discussion
hello everyone,
i have a friend with a 57 plate 1.6 ford focus, he wants to upgrade the whole engine to a bigger size, im aware you can dump a 2.0l straight in with little modification, but i wander if there are any ford gurus who would know how much of a job it would be to go BIGGER! its a 1.6 DERV turbo and wants to stay derv, also are there any bigger turbos that can be used, im looking to see if it possible so imagine money is no object, can it be done?
many thanks

As above. On such a new, common car it will be far cheaper and less hassle to sell it and get a 2.0 diesel version unless he is going to be doing the work himself; which by the sounds of it he isn't. If he really is that desperate, best speaking to some local performance garages. Of course if money is no object, anything can be done; but then why would you stick with diesel?
If it were a older/rarer car, then I'd say be saying the opposite.

Nice. Perhaps it isn't me who is dumb, but you never know I guess.Buy a 2.0 diesel (and remap it) focus if you want more power than a 1.6 tdi.
Why build a car you can buy already?
