Focus 2.0 tdci fumes in engine bay

Hello all. I bought a focus 2.0 tdci 2008 on eBay. The engine bay is filling up with fumes. I suspect the DPF is blocked, but weirdly performance is excellent. Used about half a dozen bottles of Wynne's dpf cleaner but in vain. Took it to my local garage but he didn't want to spend time on it as her thought I was probably staring into an abyss. Doesn't seem to be any chuffing or residue on the injectors.

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks guys

Describe the fumes? Oily? Diesel-y? Sweet-smelling?

Thanks Hustle - its most definitely the smell of exhaust fumes

Could be a split turbo pipe, or leaking injector
