As part of my upcoming rebuild I am replacing the OE headlamp assembly with LED headlight/projector units.

Any recommendations much appreciated - make/model, pros/cons, beam spread, looks, what made you buy that one, etc

Obviously not looking at £70 eBay jobs, but deffo open to outliers beyond the usual WIPAC, JD, etc...

Due to colour scheme most likely going for black units if I can...

Thanks!

Are they 7" round units?

If so, WIPAC have a version that looks remarkably like the units on that Valour or whatever the £m+ Aston thing was called... I think they were about £400 the last time I looked at them.

For what car?

Tuscan, T350 and Sag with the 90mm (plus those that have had the 'Tuscan front end' or the 'Silverstone SE' units fitted) Hella units can just swap out to Hella LED versions - which look the same as the bulbed units.

Tamy has genuine Jeep units fitted but their 'quirky' look suits the car.

Seems to me that the classic '9-inch' sealed unit look is not catered for in the LED market. Seems to be a drive to cram as much functions into these units as possible (DRL, highbeam, indicator, dipped, side). There are some plain looking projector 7-inch units but this would require a cowl / bowl fitting - unless it is an early Grief.

I would be looking at the various Retro builders sites / low volume manufacturers for what they fit.

Sorry - Chimaera, so 7" units required I think...

These look great!

Haven't seen these before, but appear to have an "E" stamped into the glass if you zoom in - will check UK compliance with them, but these could be the go-er...

Many thanks Red9zero smile

They look good. Well found. Shame they are in Australia.

Glad you found the DRL thread. It was Bowks' install that I was thinking off.

Did someone say Bowks.....

LED headlights, if you want to spend a lot, and do a bit of customisation, have a look at Morimito BiLED.

Like driving a modern car at night.

DRL around the main unit too.

Bowks, I put a questtion on the DRL thread about how you wired the DRLs in...

Any info much appreciated, as I'm looking to do the same. Thanks.

The DRL/turn signal has a control box. Inputs are from the sidelights and the turn signal
The control box automatically turns off the sidelight (DRL) when the turn signal goes on.

I'm in Manchester if you want a look, or I could try to do a video. I have a spare pair of the DR.L.

Right, suspected it might need one.

Have had a look for controllers, but seemingly difficult to find one designed for projector unit halo rings - which one did you use?

Thanks.

They come with the units. No need to buy anything else
