Not wishing to stir up a hornets nest here, although has anyone had an engine conversion on a tvr?

I've just read a thread in the HSV section here on PH that mentions just this. I'm not sure if you are aware but some stock 'crate' american V8's push out a real +400bhp with 100k mile service intervals!

So has anyone had a swop?

There were a couple of threads late last year IIRC about dropping an LS1 into a Griff or Chim. Didn't hear of anyone actually doing it though. Might be some issues about putting 400bhp in your Griff/Chim - lots of other work would need doing (chassis/brakes/suspension/drivetrain?)

I can imagine it would open a can of worms. I guess the best tvr 'donor' to use would be the finest handling version, to take advantage of the power. This would be the newer ones like tamora, I guess, making it a little un-cost effective.

I think I've heard that TVR were planning to fit a Holden engine into an S, there may even be a holden engined S around somewhere.

I have LS1 engines/kits here and am waiting for a Chimera to arrive sometime soon so that it can be converted. It may also be fitted with the 6 speed as well.

Sounds interesting - and careful not to advertise - but how many thousands are we talking here? Would be interesting for future reference....

Didn't they fit a Holden engine into a fixed head wedge show car?

Hello Paul, email me if you like and we can chat or do a search for chevroletls1's and see what you find. The price depends a lot depending on if it's a standard lump with stock ecu and box or something built up to accept aftermarket management. I am geared up for the latter as it has more performance potential. I like retrofit applications. As for the installation, I am waiting for the car to arrive. Regards, Mike.
