In the last couple of weeks I've had loads of virus contained emails that are (thankfully) being chucked out by my Norton Virus checker and firewall.

I've just logged on and out of 12 mails 6 were virused!!!!!!!

What the heck is going on??

Ballistic Banana has a post on General gassing complaining of the same thing.

The last mail was a porno picture...enough is enough,
if I find the ba$tards I'll kill 'em

Unless they are being sent to you by people you know there is nothing you can do except change email addresses and get that one closed down.

Once the SPAMmers have your email address that's it. It will now start to grow.

Oh, and don't put your real email address on anything other than emails to friends. If you fill in a web a form or use newsgroups then put a false address on them. I recently setup a new email address and made the mistake of using the address on a newsgroup. I have already started to receive SPAM and that is the only place I used the address except for emailing a couple of friends.

If you can't change your e-mail address try this anti-spam freebie....
works well with Outlook and not too complex to set up.

Trouble is, as a regional Organiser fot the TVRcc, I gets loads of emails from loads of people I don't know!!!!!

Thanks for the advice....I'll go check it out.

YP - shouldn't be a problem, cos the program uses a database of known spammers to build its rules. You can manually add mail addresses to the program's 'Blacklist' but also add mail addresses to a whitelist in the same manner.
Basically the program checks mail as it arrives, adding **SPAM** to the message title of any messages it recognises as coming from known spammers plus any you've added to the blacklist, You then use Outlook rules (full instuctions are on the spampal website) to move any messages with **SPAM** in the title to wherever you want i.e. Deleted Items folder etc.

I use a program called Mailwasher also free. Sounds like it does much the same as spampal. Might be worth a look though.
