Got back from France last night

We had to go down to the Loire Valley for a wedding on Saturday. We have a new to us 4L Chim, a chum has an MG and another chum an Elise. Only the Chim started out on the journey!
The Elise has no luggage space and the 16 weeks pregnant wife of the MG owner decided the MG's ride was not up to it. Phah! My wife is 20 weeks pregnant and she insisted we took the Chim. I love my wife!
Anyway, I followed the usual procedures and stocked up on spares and tools. I'm glad to say none were needed.
An early morning drive to Portsmouth on Friday morning (after an Scottish Country Dancing Ball that lasted until 3:30am) in lousy weather proved that the Chim is waterproof. It's the first really rainy journey since we got it 6 weeks ago.
We drove from Caen to the Loire on Friday afternoon in more black and blue weather. A very sunny Saturday made for great driving between the church and the reception. Needless to say, we ran a book on the length of the wedding service which was won by a lovely 6ft blonde. The prize? A ride to the reception in the Chim of course!
We drove back to Caen on the Sunday passing through Le Mans. We skipped a look at the race session as the place was swarming with people. We also put the top up at lunch time as it was so hot - I was in danger of getting sun burn!
Monday consisted of a little trips to various D-Day sites re-tracing the steps on a great uncle of mine before returning home on the afternoon ferry.
The Chim really did prove to be a great GT car. Plenty of space for my highland dress for the wedding and my wife's dress; casual gear for the rest of the weekend; coats and fleeces and even a big pregnancy bean bag pillow! It swallowed up the miles and was very comfy. It's not used much oil in the 600 miles and seemed very happy on super98 fuel.
Sorry to gush but we've just had a great time in our Chim.
