Reconnalising leather

Bit of a stupid question...probably. What does this actually mean? Does it work? If so where's a good place to get it done?

The magnolia interior of my car is a tad tired and the usual cleaners have been useless.

Would it more sensible to look at re-trimming and if so where's the best place for this - anybody with experience (of re-trimming that is)?

Could be completely miles out with this, but conalising could refer to Connelly leather which was a company which used to do the interiors for many top of the range marques. My other half used to supply them with wax until about 18 months ago when they called the receivers in. As I say this is only a thought and could be complete crap, but feasible.

Re-connolising is simply re-coating the leather with the outer coloured finish. They takle the seats out of the car, clean them off with some very nasty chemical, then literally re-spray them with the new finish.

Racing Green use a specialist who won't be a million miles from you. Suggest you give them a call and ask them who they use. I asked them because I knew they did the old Jags.

Tell us more! Where did you buy the stuff from? Was it an easy job? How good was the colour match?

I see you've got magnolia Cerbera seats in your Griff - I bet it was the side bolster on the driver's seat that looked tatty, just like mine!

I went the whole hog - front backs sides etc . Was recommended a company named Crofgate (there's a site). You send Eric a snippet of your hide and he sends back magic potions. Takes time but results very good.

There are two method here:-

1) Repainting the leather, the leather is repainted to orginal colour. This is quite quick and easy but does not produce a lasting result. The paint comes off after a few months and if you wish to do the job correctly as in case two then all this paint needs to be removed.

2) Deep clean and redying the leather, this is the correct way and will repair even dry cracked leather. Basically the leather is coating with cleaning solution which softens and brings to the surface any dirt. This is then removed and any large cracks can be repaired using a crack filler. Then the seats are lighty sanded and then redyed. You can change the colour to what ever you want. This process can be done at home and will take a few days all in.
