Highland Drive!

Well, that was a good way to spend a Sunday!
On May 25th around 20 or so TVRs took part in a drive through the Highlands. The day started off at half 8 in the morning when I was picked up by my chauffeur for the day, Mr Craig ‘look there’s a nice damp roundabout’ Alsop.
After a brisk drive up from Edinburgh we met the rest of the crew in Perth. There were TVRs of all descrptions, from a Vixen to a number of S’s, two wedges, a gaggle of Griffs and Chims and one ‘its not pink,’ pink Cerbera. 
The route took us up to Aberfeldy and then over to Newtonmore for lunch where a few more cars joined us including a purple, ‘its blue’ Tamora. In the afternoon we headed up to the Cairngorm Ski lifts for a serious photo shoot – I hope at least some of the photos come out ok because words do not do this justice! After that we headed over to Braemar and then down past Glenshee and on to Ballater.
Highlights of the day for me had to include the guy on the Golf course who dropped his club, mid-swing as we all rumbled past, watching the cerbera eat up the road on the way down from Glenshee and the people in the Land-cruiser who wound down their windows just be before we overtook them!
Oh and for the record, I only used my "invisible passanger brakes" once all day, and yes we did get caught with the roof down in the pissing rain after we left Ballater.
It was good to see some familiar faces and meet a few new ones to. Thanks very much to Andy for organising such a comprehensive route and a great day out.

I thought the blast past Glenshee following the biker was particularly fun.
I also liked the Japanese tourists talking to each other at Aviemore -
Tourist 1: "Wow was tha'?"
Tourist 2: "Ahh, Tee Vee Ahhh."
Sound of many TVRs starting up....
Tourists 1 & 2: "Woahhhhhhh!!!!"

I would also like to add my thanks to you for leading the little breakaway "Group of 4" (yourself, the Green M reg Chimaera, us in the green pre-cat Griff and the silver V8s). Had a very enjoyable morning chasing you guys on the first stage of the run. I have got about 50 photos of the day - some good some not so good ( I did spend a lot of the time hanging onto the rollover hoop of the Griff whilst trying to take photos of the cars in front and behind)
Big thanks to everyone for making it a cracking day out .

I would also like to add my thanks to you for leading the little breakaway "Group of 4" (yourself, the Green M reg Chimaera, us in the green pre-cat Griff and the silver V8s). Had a very enjoyable morning chasing you guys on the first stage of the run. I have got about 50 photos of the day - some good some not so good ( I did spend a lot of the time hanging onto the rollover hoop of the Griff whilst trying to take photos of the cars in front and behind)

theboymoon only phoned me with updates throughout the whole of sunday , all day, when i was on duty at work! at first i admit i had wanted to hear how he was getting on in craig's chim and when i heard the "it's not pink" cerb rumble past on the phone, i was glad he'd called. but as my day wore on slowly, i couldn't bring myself to talk to him!
moon, you deserve to fail your last exam for having so much fun whilst one of your best mates had none. 350 miles in a wee sunday cruise was not bad at all. just make sure the next time it happens you check with me first so i can clear a date!

Colin (purple Chimaera) apologised for holding everyone up - apparently his brake pads were almost worn out - he says he would have taken one of his Vipers if he had realised it was that bad....

It was quite a manouver you were pulling off back there! Getting the photos back friday - developed onto CD to make them more PC friendly than using a scanner. Unfortunately, I don't have one these new fangled digital efforts. I just hope they are not all of blurry dots on the horizon!

What you need to know about Colins Vipers is that they are both (I think he has two) self built and not from kits.
Colin hand made them himself, including aluminium chassis and fiberglass body. They look stunning.

In fact, I think he has built 2 from scratch (sold 1), and he has one genuine Dodge Viper that he bought crash damaged & is rebuilding.

The workmanship in his cars is fantastic - possibly better than the originals in many ways, as he spends so much effort on them.
