Hi all,
does anyone know of a 'reputable' company in the Yorks area who can sort out this problem:
Chimaera has 2 immobilisers, the factory fitted one, I think its META, and a secondary system (works by making a contact under the dash). Every so often, and now more and more frequently, the car stays immobilised even though both systems seem to work (you can hear the 'click' as the contact is made, and the fuel pump fires ok, but the starter is dead as a...dead thing)
As the car is 1997 I'm more or less convinced that one or other of the systems is on the way out and could do with a 'TVR friendly' electrics expert to sort this out. I'm also trying to go through the warranty from the dealer, but i imagine this will end up in having the AA poking around and supplying 'helpful' comments such as 'tut tut you shoulda bought a reliable motor shouldnt you'

With you on that one - my guess is that it is the Meta one that's playing up cos every now and again mine does exactly the same, yesterday on top of Holme Moss being the most recent!
All I can do is lock it, wait a few minutes while the system sorts itself out, unlock and start as normal. I am resigned to getting a whole new system if I am ever to have any reliability.
Please let me know if you find an answer.

Yup thats the badger! the recovery time on mine is about 20mins which is EXTREMELY embarassing when you're stuck at the Shell pumps. Beads of sweat on the brow. People have a look at the nice TVR as they go to pay. Have another look on the way back. Frown quizzickly as they drive off....

Update on this one:
Found a META specialist in Leeds who decided rather than strip out the old unit a replace it @ £120+++, would find the root of the problem, which turned out to be the wiring offering more resistance than the META could cope with. Now I am no electrical brainbox, in fact I have trouble putting the kettle on, but apparently a 30A relay at the starter motor fixes this problem for good.
