When the first pictures of the new Tamora were unvieled, I was disappointed about the way it looked, but now, after several months its looks have started to grow on me, the way they did with the Tuscan, when it was first produced. The Tamora is nearly 100% cosmetically pleasing apart from that back end!!!
I love the fact that it, is the first easy driven and chuckable TVR yet and it sounds great (this months evo CD), But I cannot yet accept that back end.
I was wandering what the rest of you TVR people thought and does anyone reckon that TVR will restyle the back end of the Tamora, in any way
Cheers
Mike

I have to agree. The front is just about ok, the interior ok, possibly nice. But the rear end seems to have a tea tray hanging. I think i will stick with me 99 griff 500. Thats until i the tuscan is reliable.

Well, I am due to pick mine up in the next few weeks, so obviously I like it. When the speed 12 came out everyone loved the rear diffuser so why is everyone so anti now?
The fact is it's there to give downforce, and as this is widely acknowledged to be the first EVER TVR in a wind tunnel that tells you a)why it has a diffuser and b) why it handles like no other TVR. and I should know, check my profile I have owned most of them!!

On first looks I loved the front and interior too. The back isn't pretty I agree but it's purposeful, unique and it helps the performance so it's fine by me. My advice as ever is go and drive it and then pass judgement...

Okay maybe the diffuser on the rear of the car greatly improves the handling (which is a good thing), but could TVR not have done a prettier job, like Lotus have done on the Mk2 Elise?

getting nearer and nearer now eh flash....I thought the car had been designed first then put in a wind tunnel which may account for it's unusual looks...what do I know, I agree that to drive it is to love it tho....it feels so 'together'

Lotus elise? the only similarity is the handling.....

You are right apache. The car was put in a wind tunnel Afterwards, they can't re-design the back because the boot wouldn't be big enough to take the roof panel.

I love it, thats why I'm buying one. I'm really not getting touchy here honestly, and I really don't want to start a row, but why are some people constantly sniping at the Tamora before having a proper look and a drive?
I don't like the styling of the Chimeara and never have done. But, there are other TVR's to buy and I bought them instead. I haven't started a "Isn't the Chimeara f***g ugly" thread have I?

Lay off the Tamora and buy something else if you don't like it's arse!!!

(No offence Mike,I just don't understand people having a moan until they have driven it and seen it close up, THEN they will realise why it looks like it does. )

Having driven Logik's Tamora ,I for the first time want to buy a new TVR tomorrow , but the wife won't let me.
The Tamora is so good that if some one spend money on a Tuscan they are the losers. ( my opion only )
The Chim is good looking the Cerbie great , the Tuscan out of this world & the Tamora abit ugly at the back , but who care what the back looks like when you are driving one , that's for the losers behind you to look at .
Mike you need to drive one .

With reference to the rear end of a Tamora. This is an excellent way of looking at it - it's almost like sticking your dirty arse in someones face if they p*ss you off!

Anyway I hope my wife still thinks I'm checking holiday destinations on the internet!

I thought I heard something along the line that the Tamora was designed for a single pipe at the rear and the "tray" is there so the could put two pipes, as an after thought, is this right?

Hope the Tamora is going to be nice and loud, that way Flash wont hear people laughing at the rear protrusion on his Tam..

cannot believe you are getting touchy about people critising the Tamoras aerodynamic rear appendage.... especially when you were ripping the piss last week about the [windtunnel proven] aerokit on my car, just last week?????

Apache...hope job is going well....did you get your diff sorted out?

I've never seen the Tamora in person but from the piccies I think her bottom is fine! Initially, yes I thought it was funny looking. But take a good look at other cars butts and they are pretty stupid looking. You see Tams butt and YOU KNOW what it is. It's distinctive. Look at what options a person has in the sports car market at this price and there is really nothing like a TVR Tamora.

I think an F50 nose and much of Ferrari's current styling is much much poorer yet they get little critism. But reminds me of the first time I saw a Diablos bottom...it was like looking at porn for the first time.

Leave Tamy alone, great perfomance, great looks, great price, and great fun.

Benno. Me? touchy? Shut up. At least my "aerokit" is factory fitted and not some cheap add-on to make the car look like the more expensive version you couldn't afford . TVR's, unfortunatley don't have "max power" add-ons like your Hun-mobile!

Vindaloo, don't be silly the undertray was only added after the windtunnel and the twin exhausts were added because the single pipe wouldn't fit, because of the undertray. Twin pipes look better anyway.

You are a fine one to talk!!!!

my Porsche is better than TVR, my Porsche is cheaper to service my aerokit hasn't been featured in "max power" yet benno sinned binned by Ted for being repetetive and boring (as usual )

I'm going to tell everyone at the factory tomorrow that you think TVR's are rubbish and watch you cringe after you have bought me some Blackpool tonight mate

Obviously, Im with Flasher on this one, because my Tamora will be ready at about the same time. I agree the back end is an afterthought, but it's not as ugly as contributors to this site seem to think - they are usually the ones who have neither seen a Tamora in the flesh, nor driven it. The interior is streets ahead of the Griff and Chimaera - it is a nicely integrated, solid, well finished product, and gets away from the wood-and-leather Brit car look. It has received almost universal praise in the motoring press, the driving position is superb, goes like stink, handling and roadholdong are LIGHT YEARS ahead of Griffmaera, and better than the Tuscan, which is now getting suspension mods fed back from the Tamora.

I suspect there is a lot of jealousy behind the negative comments - TVR have produced a superb car, which is almost the best handling, best driver's car in the world, and some people driving other models can't seem to accept these facts, that there is a better TVR out there than the one they currently drive. Well, it IS a better car, boys, so get used to it. We're all still TVR lovers, aren't we? (kissy-wissy)

Well I've been driving my Tamora for a week now and it's way ahead of my old Chimaera!
Anyone who's forming opinions from pictures really needs to go and see/drive the car!
The interior is brilliant and the rear end just looks muscular. How many other cars to you see with diffusers that say to you - this car is so fast the diffuser stops it taking off!
Cheers....... Andrew

Exactly!!! and the bits are put on when the car is built, not as an "optional add-on" like some other manufacturers I could mention...

Very true. And I first noticed this when the Tuscan first came out. The only people at the TVR club meeting I attended who said they didn't like it were jealous Griffmeara owners... I had a Griff at the time but thought the Tuscan was great... I ordered a Tamora for the same reasons as you nubbin. It reminded me of my Cerb inside, The roof came off like my old Griff, and it handled like no TVR I have ever driven...

The case for the defence rests the press love it and that's good for TVR too surely???

yes indeed, all it's really lacking is a 'proper' Speed 6 engine (4.0L S spec) and some huge 18" spider wheels to total shag the handling (come on, someones got to be brave enough to ask PW for the above. I reckon this will be his response)
