Will be driving the Chimaera to the French Grand Prix in July and anticpating possible high temperatures have thought about using some 'Water Wetter' as a little added insurance against overheating.
Anyone have experience of using this stuff ?
Yes,
Recommend it - use it when I go to Le Mans as well - seems to make the difference between boiling over and just 'running hot'

Do you need to drain and flush the whole system, or can you just drain a bit and then add Water Wetter?
For max cooling its best to drain and use water plus watter wetter. Glycol reduces its efficiency. It does work, you should see at least 10 deg drop in running temps.
My 2 pence worth is that I can't tell a difference by looking at the gauage... Had a complete flush at a 12K service with Dave Batty and supplied water wetter... and the temp of the car is still around 90 (i have 2 stage cooling by Modwise). With 2 stage cooling off, the temp can easily go up to 100 but the fans do kick in and stabilise the temp...
Bottom line is that I feel better that it's in there but can't really see the result it promises...
Not used it in a TVR to date but have used it in previous cars (MGBs) and can say that from my experience it did what it claimed to do.
I use it in my Tamora and it does make a difference. Hard to quantify exactly but I used to often see temps in excess of 100, especially in traffic, and since I put it in haven't seen higher then 96 and that was two ot three weekends ago when it was v. hot and sunny.
is this water wetter off the shelf as i have never heard of it before and i am currently struggling to stop the beast from overheating.
I got mine from Leven while getting a few other bits and pieces. There are quite a few places online where you can buy it. If you do a search on Google or other search engine for it you'll find quite a lot of info. about it and probably a few places to buy apart from Leven.
I fitted the Leven kit to my 5.0. I did the thermostat and Otter, then gave it some time to make sure of no leaks then put water wetter in just a few days ago. It did seem to make a difference on top of the rest of the kit.
It's more noticeable when you're moving. In traffic though the temperature still crept up in v.hot weather today, just a lot slower.

What temp does your car sit at in traffic in the hot weather after fitting the kit ?? and do the fans stay on all the time ?
