Should I extend my Warranty?

My Tamora is coming up to its first anniversary, in fact I am taking her for 12 month service tomorrow. I have only done 2200 miles and probably won't do much more in the next year. I have had no major problems with the car(touch wood) apart from a few niggles which were sorted at 1000 mile service. From reading various forums on S6 engines and build quality should I go for an extended warranty (a further 2 years engine, 1 year car) to be on the safe side? I have been told this will cost approx £750.00 or due to the low mileage that I am doing not bother.

How lucky do you feel? Like any insurance, warranties are designed to make money for the companies that issue them. They calculate that, overall, your claim, if any, will be smaller than the premium. Therefore, given average luck you will *lose* money.
You can take the view that if you keep the £750 in the building society, you have that money to fix anything that breaks. If nothing goes badly wrong, you win and get to keep it. You have be happy with the small risk that something bigger than £750-worth might go wrong.
My personal view is to keep the money and sort out any problems myself. As your Tamora is seemingly out of warranty, you don't have to go to a TVR main dealer if you don't want to. However, there are people who've had major warranty payouts and wouldn't be without them - and the Speed Six engine is a factor in the calculations, I think.
You can only weigh up the pros and cons and live with your decision!

Coops, as you know I didn't extend my warranty when the car was a year old in January because it had been so reliable.
Since then I have had a problem with the fuel pump relay which took a day to diagnose at TVR Power.
However I can't praise them highly enough as their view was that it shouldn't have gone wrong in the first place so put it though under warranty.
I'd only hope that all dealers would be this reasonable but doubt it somehow!
So so far I'm pleased that I haven't forked out to extend the warranty.
