I'm doing a track evening at Silverstone next month and wanted to do a bit of preperation with regards to the best line to take etc. It's on the full circuit so I'll be keenly watching the F1 lads and what lines they take, but does anyone have any tips for a TVR on Silvertone?

Tips/diagrams or even better, in car video, would be most welcome. (I will be taking the camcorder so I'll be able to post exactly what I get up to).

Thanks as always,

Chris

Before anyone says it, I know an instrcutor would be my best guide, but a head start would be nice!

Well you could always go hunting at

www.jimbocam.com

who has complete laps.

Can I also recommend going to www.circuitdriver.co.uk and purchasing the UK circuit guide - which contains Silverstone in detail.

The In-Car Active DVD of Silverstone is utterly superb and can be obtained from PH's very own shop...

www.pistonheads.com/shop

And finally - before I did Silverstone last year I bought one of the most recent racing simulations and drove literally hundreds of laps on it.

Whilst this does less than nothing for car control skills the actual layout of the circuit is pretty accurate (was done with GPS) and so one learns "which way to go" ahead of time.

I'm doing Silverstone GP again towards the end of July and will be recording my "exploits" if that's the word. You never know - there might even be some clips from ME!

Jimbo's very own lap. An Elise on a mission passes a Cerbera! You'll need broadband to download it. Also - several times our hero is off-line during the lap as he passes slower traffic on the left...

Not long now, eh Don? I got my confirmation pack today from the PCGB but am still bereft of crash helmet.

Hugely looking forward to treading (tentatively!) in Shuey & Co's tyre marks, starting with a little Lotus work out tomorrow morning at Rockingham.

(Bloody early start though, damn it!)

I have been watching the Circuit Driver DVD today - the corner by corner commentary is great. Something about maggots in a bucket

I'm sure I'll get the hang of it before the Baron trundles out in battle dress.

I am also searching for a coal scuttle helmet - but GP Racewear is close-ish to work, so I shall probably pop in one lunchtime.

Thanks for the suggestions, Ted will soon have mail! I can see I am at the amateur end of the scale here, we all have to start somewhere though!

Thanks again, I'll endeavour to post my 'exploits' too, should make for good viewing!

Cheers,

Chris

Best tip is brake for woodcote and vale. They lull you into a false sense of ability and can spit you out PDQ.

I'm there on the 25th in the Griff shopping trolley!

Is that July 25th? If so how are you getting your Griff into the Porsche Club Track Day?

Is there a Track Evening after....?

Yes it's the evening. There are usually a couple or Porkers there in the evening as well.
