Can someone please explain what the connection between Trident and TVR is/was?

My father has been looking for a Trident Clipper for ages and I'm not sure but thought it had some connection with TVR?

Is it specifically the Clipper you are after or the TVR Trident too? The convertible is very nice...

The TVR tridents I believe only number 3 or 4, only 1 of which is the blue convertible. The others are all coupes.

The blue convertible is even more beautiful in the flesh, I can't remember but I think it might even be steel not fibreglass but shoot me down if I'm wrong.

Want want want.

Big ford V8 with a slush box not everybody's taste I suppose.

None of the TVR Tridents had any glass fibre in them at all, but all the Trident Venturer/Clipper/Tycoons were completely glass fibre bodied.

The first two TVR Trident Coupes and the Convertible are a mixture of aluminium and steel (aluminium bonnet but everything else steel) whilst the 3rd Coupe (the red one in the pictures above) is all-steel with no aluminium at all.

Used to have 2, a Venturer & a Clipper - make sure you go for the latter with the small block Ford V8. The earlier ones had the Big Healey chassis whereas the later had TR6 underpinnings. Also try the Trident Car Club for help. Wish I had kept the Clipper...

I used it as my wedding car in 1970. It was fitted with a 289 HiPo and
manual 4 speed. It was all steel no alloy panels, very front end heavy it
had a very high floor and little leg room, very uncomfortable to drive.
Finished in Flame Red with black trim.I lost track of it in the mid 70s.

That's interesting. I know it has been gold, dark blue and light (Ferrari Dino) blue but I never knew it had been red.

I really did think the convertible had an aluminium bonnet like nos. 1 + 2 coupes though; I'll have to check with Neil Lefley, who restored it to its current spectacular condition!
