Can someone confirm you have to switch the engine off between adjustments of the MAF CO setting?

My experience say NO. But if i remember right engine should be running to apply changes of COtrim voltage.

Was testing one today and found adjustments did not seem to be changing the CO.
Turned off and back on again and the CO suddenly jumped to the new setting (which was now way to far the wrong way as I had been winding the screw for some time.
Wound it back and again no change until I switched off/on.
