Hi all ..
I have my cars insured through my trade insurance, which doesn't cover me for driving through Europe...
I am going to the Spa Classic so obviously this is a little bit of an issue.

What I would ideally like is very short term car cover (a month maybe to allow for *cough* breakdowns and the car needing an extended stay before getting it home .. better be safe than sorry ..) ..

Has anyone insured their TVR for a short term for driving in Europe, if so where did you get your insurance from ?

cheers!

Won't your trade insurance do an extension?

My broker is looking into it so hopefully that might be the case - that would be great.

Jools,

I've used REIS (?) motorsport insurance for trips to Spa/Classic and LM/Classic - just for track cover.
However, they are a very professional company, straightforward to deal with and they do exactly what they say over the 'phone. They advertise in BARC magazine and MSA mag.

Appreciate this is different, but they may be able to help. They must have experience of motorsport teams run by UK folks who have trade cover like yourself....but want a 'supplement' for European cover?

If you have classic insurance cover, extension to use in Europe is often included for a while, mine is with Footman James. I can't find the details at present but it may be 30 days.

However, they are already suggesting you may need to physically have a 'green card' with you after March 29th. No mention of a charge but expect it to an excuse for charges like so many companies are making a noise about. frown

Hi Jools,

I needed a short-term policy and I think it was the AA or RAC that provided the cover. I think it cost me about £80 for a short trip, which I didn't think was too bad. I didn't need to use it so can't comment on how effective it was.

Lots of good info many thanks everyone. I'm still hoping my insurer (NIG) will add the cover to my existing insurance, but if not I have a few leads to follow up too ^^ many thanks
