Stig's Feelings on TVRs :D
Discussion
It was enjoyable to watch but pretty much everything he said has been said before.
Lots of the usual cliches, lots of contradictions.
The Sagaris looked fantastic at 21 years old.
TVRs have always punched well above their weight at the price point.
Also the digs at TVR being built in sheds in Blackpool by amateurs was unnecessary.

Ben Collins rehashes a load of old cliches to get clicks on his video and boost his channel. Yawn.
It's funny isn't it.
1991-1999 TVR are spoken about in terms like:
"So close to greatness it hurts" (Performance Car, Griffith first drive)
"Porsche are being beaten at their own game" (Car)
"Ferrari baiting performance for half the price" (Autocar)
Clarkson waxes lyrical.
Tiff drives in the Tuscan Challenge and gives the Griff & Cerbera a big thumbs up.
Evo are positive.
Then by 2000 it's all gone:
"Smells of glue and bits fall off"
"Built in a seaside shed by Trevor"
It reminds me of those oh so cool narcissistic 'journalists' who used to work for the likes of NME who championed an underdog until the band broke out, then they rubbished them because if YOU like them they aren't cool anymore.
It's the most paththetic adolescent gate keeping and the British are masters of it.

The fact TVRs were flawed was part of the charm.
Those that were in a position to buy them new could afford a Porsche if they'd have wanted.
Wasn't a Sagaris around £45k back in 2005? A cool £80k in 2026.
There is also the argument that a less capable car is more fun on the road than something perfect. Those that were in a position to buy them new could afford a Porsche if they'd have wanted.

I have had the pleasure of driving an AWD Jaguar F-Type R back to back with my Griffith and one is a lot more enjoyable at legal speeds.

Agreed if you mean less capable in terms of outright mechanical grip or speed. But poor handling (excessive understeer/transitioning to snap oversteer/overall poor handling balance) can't be excused, it just makes a bad car.Stick Legs said:

Of course nothing to do with Clarkson falling out with his shooting mate Peter W , when Peter laughed at Clarkson whilst his car (not a TVR) was on fire It's funny isn't it.
