In the mid 1990s some TVR engined Range Rovers and Discoverys were produced with the bless of Lord Lichfield. They had TVR badges and used 5 litre Grffith engines detuned for high torque rather than outright power - I think a claimed 290bhp/340ftlb.

Does anyone have any details of what was done to these engines, the camshaft used, etc - was there a special 4x4 chip developed for the 14CUX?

Not sure if this is of help, but remember being up at TVR POWER years back and they were fitting one to a Range Rover destined for the MD of Land Rover South Africa.

Ah, I remember the adverts for those. smile Interestingly, 290 bhp/340 lbs.ft was what TVR initially claimed for the Chim 500, too. scratchchin

In the late 80s the SX Supercharged 3.5s were trialled in Range Rovers prepared by Dreadnought Garage, never seen one and no clue where any are!!

I think you'll find Mark Adams had and has a hand in the mapping for all of these, also the wildcats too.

Some of this pre-dates MA offering RV8 chips etc. AFAIK.

Here is a 5.0L engine I biuld for a chap in a Defender Comp Safari car. Pretty impressive performance, although it's a good way of spending your funds to get the whole vehicle up to spec.

It's at Billing this weekend I understand.

I will be building, or buying a 500 RV8 to put in my Rangie, just as soon as it's worked it's way to the top of the to do list. biggrin

Nice dual chip from RPi and it'll work with my current LPG set up a treat. So the 'greenies' and go blow it out their ar**!

Someone i knew had a TVR 500 fitted in a Rangie classic. It now sits in a P38. Someone i know now has a 4.6 SC in a 50th Defender.

Mark, how well does it work in the P38? It's high on my wanted list, my old 4.6 could do with a rebuild. smile

Let me know if you ever want to sell that SWB Defender on your profile, that's lovely. yes
