Do any of you guys happen to know the whereabouts of, or anything at all about, a dark green 1960 Grantura Mk2 with registration number 184 PTB?

The registration number does not show up as being attached to a TVR and, as far as I can tell, it hasn't been transferred to another vehicle. That would suggest that either the car is not still around, or it is in storage somewhere and never had the log book updated to a V5 document when the DVLC (as was) computerised in the early seventies.

The TVRCC may hold some details of it: have you tried there? The DVLA will probably not give you any historic info based on a VRM unless you are the current keeper of the car or you have some other interest, eg. someone crashed into you and drove off without stopping, but maybe car clubs have access to certain historic info?

Could try DVLA - I used to have to get print outs for vehicles if parts turned up we suspected as stolen.

If a record is not updated for 7 years it gets archived and will not show on the database - even PNC access.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I'll see whether TVRCC know anything.

Why do you want to know what happened to 184PTB? What I can tell you is that it started life red, not green, and was originally fitted with 1100cc Climax engine. The car went to Le Mans with the works team in 1962, driven there by the owner, a son of one of the directors at the time. If you do find it, the original owner would also like to know what happened to the car.

I bought 184 PTB in 1966 from a man called Sven in Bolton. It was green when I bought it and had the Coventry Climax FWA engine. I was 18 years old
and it was my first car. I had a lot of fun in that car and sold it a couple of years later.
Some years later I happened to see the car in Liverpool, which by this time someone had fitted the MG engine and repainted it in red.
I seem to remember that Wilkinson was the original owner.

It was actually a Mark 1, not a Mark 2. It had the Climax FWA engine at 1097cc. The Mark 2 had the FWE engine at 1216cc.
