Today I crawled under the Griff for the first time. The rear underside of the bodywork, right back at the exhaust bracket, is caked, I mean caked, in road tar. Anyone found a decent product to ease removing this which doesn’t blemish the paintwork ?

Thanks.

There is such thing as tar remover which you can get from Halfords but if not polish seems to do a good job, i think the tar remover is only white spirits.

White spirit I think.

I've found that most adhesive things can usually be removed with white spirit or meths: if one doesn't work, try the other!

And have plenty of rags ready, as if the tar is thick, solvent will only dissolve a certain amount at a time.

Tar is petroleum based, therefore pertol will remove it!

An old tooth brush makes life a little easier if not quicker then just using a rag.

White spirit will do the trick as someone has already said - just make sure you dry it off and apply a coat of wax afterwards.
