New carpets will be going in the car in the new year and I'm debating if I should fit Dynamat whilst the carpets are all out.

I can see the benefits in a metal car just not so convinced in a fibreglass car.

Comments from those who have done it welcome.

Thanks.

From my research earlier in the year, it didn't seem worth either the price nor the weight penalty. It's quite heavy stuff, and is designed mainly to dampen vibration noise in metal panels, although it does also block some sound out as it's a rubber barrier.

I had a full set of carpets fitted inc some 16mm carpet underlay which was much cheaper than dynamat. Used 2 layers under the boot carpet as well to help stop the droning I was getting from the exhaust. Whilst the droning is now all but gone, there was only a small improvement in the general noise within the cabin, although road/tyre noise was improved.

If I had the cash, then a combination of barrier materials would work even better I would think. Something like this. http://www.customaudiodesigns.co.uk/tecsound-ft55a...

We've got a roll of this for the Taimar.

Or just get some closed cell foam off ebay for about £30 for 2x1m roll.

I had it in the Tamora in the doors and on the floors I didn't notice any difference what so ever regarding noise levels, when it was removed weight saving wise it's negligible I took 7kg out of the doors and off the floor it will not make a difference to the handling for a road car or a track car.
