Bloke bumbling along in TVR gets in way of Saab driver, who tries to get passed said TVR at appropriate point.
TVR driver blocks said maneuver as has taken a dislike for no apparent reason to Saab driver and his girlfriend, secretary, sister, sick friend (take your pick), is slow round the next bend as its a TVR and then floors it up the straight leaving the Saab in cloud of blue smoke from the oily sleeved TVR's exhaust. Saab driver hangs back to avoid being suffocated from clouds of oil smoke and the embarrassment of the noise.
Then Saab driver carries on his journey, without feeling the need to approach 100mph - as flat in 3rd would be - to turn into a side road.
Arrives at destination to tell anyone that listens about this TVR he encountered and the things it did in front of him for no apparent reason.

Ah! All I tried to do was put a spin on a story with some fancy words!
Although I do enjoy some of the joke-y banter
Eccentric is my thing. I only got a glimpse in the rear view mirror of who was behind me, he wasn't all that close and topping out in third was a bit of an exaggeration of course

Let the jockey leap away at the lights, and then happily sit behind him (at a safe distance) no matter what speed he does.
I usually find that those who don't know the marque rapidly tire of the game and give up. Of course, those who do know end up providing an entertaining interlude in my journey...

I agree with the Beemers and Audis being sticky on my number plate...when i drive around in my daily driver on the autobahn. Which doesn't mean that i'm a rolling road block, though.
With the TVR however everyone doubles their distance to the car. Obviously they do not recognise the car. I guess they think it's propably expensive and they surely do not want to bump into the car.
But occasionally there are people sticking close to the TVR, like you pointed out. Not sure about the Saabs though. ;-). Then sometimes I feel the need to either pull away on b-roads or pull over to let them pass, before i lose my temper.

Very true Laser Sag, I should make it clear that the left hand lane is painted as only turning left into the high street. Hence my discontent with his decision to pass me on the inside. Oh and there's a set of traffic lights there too which I was waiting at.Don't worry Alex I'm on your side. I had a similar situation with an imprezza driving txxt the other week. When they are tailing you as close as they do I feel it is safer to accelerate away to a safe distance to remove yourself from the danger. This generally leaves the inferior car driving prxxks wishing they had listened a bit harder when they were at school...
The most memorable time I had was with a ferrari 458.
He was right up the butt of my chimaera he went for the overtake as we got to the start of the dual carrage then I gave it the beans and we were neck and neck all the way up to 140 then again at the next island from a standstill. At the next island he wouldnt even look over just drove at normal pace.
Childish but sometimes you just gotta have a play and show what a little N reg car can do

Exactly this on Sunday, and he was in ( what looked in the mirror anyway) to be a lowered BMW 3 series with a young'ish driver in it. Came around a bend I'd taken at 30 at what must have been 45 and accelerated towards me. Didn't bite as a junction was coming up so kept to signed 40 then, when back to 50 zone accelerated gently in 4th, nothing serious as I just like the noise, induction and exhaust in perfect harmony. Then the most bizarre thing happened as the BMW suddenly developed a sort of magnetism, well for my eyes anyway, as these amazingly bright blue lights started to strobe into my retina. He was a very nice guy and happy to talk about cars, trips to Le Mans, his mate who is trying to sell him a Tuscan etc, but it didn't stop him writing out a ticket! I was going a bit over the limit and he does have a job to do so didn't feel too aggrieved at the time, but in hindsight considering the exact circumstance I think a warning would have been more appreciated.

No real moral to this story apart from the fact it's not always a good idea to try and out drag every Tom Dick and Harriet who drives too close.
PS. as most posts like this usually end up with some sanctimonious twonk saying you did the crime you pay the fine, kindly keep your pointless opinion to yourself, I was late home for some beautiful home made lasagne loving crafted by my now fuming -Italian- wife, which far outweighs any driving advice offered.
