Spirited run and my knob fell off !!

Help, the windscreen wiper knob on my Mk11 Tusc s fell off and i am really having so much trouble refixing.
I have put in general in case an ex Tusc owner sees thread.
Do you fix the first bit then try and get allen key into tiny gap or fix two bits together then push onto spline either way has had me throwing toys and bits out the car
any ideas please.

Mine did exactly the same thing when I first got the car. I tried fixing back on using the methods you have described, but it kept falling off so I just ended up bonding it on with a strong adhesive. Problem sorted!
