Two weeks ago the starter motor went on the Chim', I fitted a refurbished (Bosch) unit and it has been fine since...
Until this morning that is; jumped in, turned the key, fuel pump primed but nothing from the starter. bks
Had to take the train to work, so I was late

Given that the car needs body off chassis repairs; maybe, after 5yrs, it's time to move on?
Anyone looking for a 'project'?

I'd have made you an offer perhaps if you had posted this in a few months' time - I'm about to move house!

I hope that whatever you do is, ultimately, the best for you though smile

At the moment I'm torn between keeping the car, or putting the £5K chassis repair money towards something else

Huntsman would be interested in hearing from you I am sure.

Sorry to hear your woes though, but maybe worth keeping for when the frustration has abated?

Thinking of getting a new Chim, John, or moving on from TVR to something else?

If I get rid I would most likely move on to something non TVR cry
As much as I would love a Tamora or Tuscan, they are moving further away price wise

Yeah, they are getting more expensive now.

A couple of years ago you could get a reasonably nice Tuscan for less than 15k, not now.

Sad to lose you, mate, but still be welcome to the meetings biggrin

Likely something simple if ok two weeks ago. Patience, sounds electrical. Battery or starter. Easy to check those first.

john i'm sure you know this but a tvr doesn't loose value these days
I know we may spend money to keep our cars in top condition but a well looked after chim will hold its value

example 1998 chim bought 3 years ago for 10k to 11k approx.
today this car if looked after will sell for the same amount

vw golf bought 3 years ago for 10 k would now be at a guess be worth 5k approx.
so I say to myself and "her in doors" that if I was to spend 5 k on my p&j over 3 years its the same as losing money
on the value of a normal road car over that period

there's not many cars on the road that hold there value like this and put a smile on your face ? I haven't put the petrol costs in lol
