Range Rover Sport as a second to the Cerb...?

Spotted a fair mileage RR Sport for sale up the road which is currently tickling my fancy... Concerns are that I'm buying (another) money pit.

I don't begrudge the Cerb, but as far as a. n. Other cars go, I could see that getting irritating.

Wondered if anyone had experience with these beasties...?

2 friends have them - one an original steel body RRS diesel and the other a new supercharged petrol. The latter has been back to the dealer a few times with a temperamental TPMS sensor on the spare wheel but otherwise they're both nice comfortable cars

I think you will find quite a few RR around TiV owners, I've had three to date. I have a tdv8 3.6 sport .get it checked out ,petrol ones are very thirsty. All RR are prone to electrics get it on a diagnostic reader to see any potential gremlins.
Main dealers pricing for service make TiV dealers look very cheap!!! Full history is not a must but as always bills will tell the story.

I have a disco 3 (and a D2). Have had the d3 for nearly 7 years.
The running costs of a d3 are aimiliar to that of a rrs (2.7).
Suspect servicing is circa £2k pa (ie including repairs eg re circulation, handbrake, bushes..). Then there's 24mpg.
Then there's tax. So not a cheap car to run.

I've been idly looking at these recently. Fine looking things and completes a perfect two car garage along with a TVR IMHO. TDV8 HSE looks to be the pick of the bunch, shame they are all in the higher tax bracket. If your mileage is low the Supercharged looks like stonking value and the cheaper tax on the older cars pays for a couple of tankfuls of unleaded.

FFRR still a handsome thing too.

Slightly off topic - but still (I think) within keeping of the original question;

I run a 911 and a Full Fat RR and find the two to be an absolute perfect pairing. They are so chalk and cheese, yet both deliver a very special (specialist?) feeling when driving them that can't be ignored.

I often think that one without the other would be a folly, but between the two they cover all bases perfectly and you will never be left wanting if you take the right one out.

I used to have a 4.2 Cerb so understand the sentiment. I'd say do it, an RRS will compliment a TVR perfectly by being being so completely different but doing it so equally well!

Audi's also seem to be popular TVR stablemates. A6 Avant quattro's or A8's the preferred variants.

I had a RR Sport which I sold back in December. Great car and no issues or complaints.....in fact the opposite. Wife loved it, kids loved it, I loved it and if you need to haul a trailer then good for taking cars to the track.

Great driving position, very comfortable, all the toys worked well, felt like a big saloon and........I have no idea why I sold it.
