garage bemoans TVR's - strange tactic...
Discussion
Popped into a fairly well known TVR specialist (amongst other makes) in the south east to have a look round as have never been before and its fairly local to me.
Parked on the street outside, walked in to have a look around, see what the facilities were like etc.
Was approached by a chap asking if he can help, mentioned I was just looking as they were fairly local and wanted to see what services they offered etc.
I mentioned they had quite a few TVR's in to be told "yeah, these things cant last 1000 yards without breaking down, give me a porsche any time, I want to get where im going, not break down every time i use it".
Went onto to point out 2-3 cars of constant woe and break down, a grey TVR in particular came up for some criticism which made me wonder more about there ability to look after said car, than the car itself as it kept breaking down on the day they were due to deliver it. All of which could have perhaps been the individuals experience, but i found this a strange tactic to gain new custom.
At this point he asked what i was driving, so I took some delight in saying the Chim out front, he went quiet and started back tracking that they and the griff are fine, only those new ones which have reliability issues.
I was a little lost at this point, not sure i will be taking my car to somewhere that has such vocal disrespect for the car, was a very strange way of getting potential new customers thats for sure!

I was sat at some temp lights in Ascot this morning and a cyclist asked if I still had the original engine in my Tuscan, he seemed shocked when I told I him it was and had now clocked up 83k. Pub rumour has it that they are very unreliable. Boils my piss sometimes so gave it large when the lights changed.
I've posted these before but they fit here again.
Went to buy my Wife a nice new SLK from the Chester MB dealer.
While we waited for the demo car to be free, the Sales guy decided it would be a good idea to slate my Tuscan with the usual drivel.
I went to the info desk and told them that if they didn't provide me with a different Sales person I would buy from the Stoke dealer.
I left happy in the knowledge that the knob didn't get any commission.
Here is a nice picture for the Porsche fan you met. Ford and Peugeot also contributed to my entertainment last year in Southern France.

Had a fabulous blast around the Leicestershire countryside today. On the way home I was overtaken by a Carrera 4 and the passenger was non too complimentary of my car.
At the next roundabout whilst waiting for the lights to change, his car cut-out and on came the hazards. Imagine my joy watching his passenger help push the car off the road.
Priceless
Made my day.

Not good for a garage to come across like that but are people really trying to say that the tvr built engines were all bullet proof from the factory? Even the general buying advice is get one with a rebuilt engine. Yes there will be some that go for longer, and Ince rebuilt (properly) are generally very good.
As for the older one, tends to be electrics/old components which is the same for all cars getting on for 20-30 plus years old now.
