Canems ECU complete conversion now completed
Discussion
I just wanted to share with you some images of the latest conversion I have had done to My Griff 500 Pre-Serp.
A BIG 'Thank You' to the Lloyd Specialist Developments of Warminster - Brothers, Daniel and Natham and the rest of their team having now collected my car.
After five years of ownership... It is a completely different car. Finally got around to affording the conversion.
Basically went for the complete ECU conversion (having read good things about the Lloyd bros who happened to be on my door step) due to the low end hunting and shunting. After two weeks of installation of the new ECU, new wiring loom and 'bit's and bobs' you see from the images, the car now drives, 'how it should of done' and 'not how it did!' Described as the worst one that they have done, it's all now re mapped and I can now drive it through town with out 'riding the clutch'
Well the whole drive can only be described as smooth, what a joy to have no shunting and hunting!
I am not technically minded so may be not be able to help with the techie questions - but I do know there is an incredible amount of difference. Apart from being particular .... no make that 'very!' bad for it's previous shunting, I was told on the positive side, that my engine was 'very strong' and will keep on pulling! Which is reassuring!
My car will be on view on the Lloyd stand for all to see at the Neil Garner Open Day on Saturday September 27th at SN16 9SH where the Lloyd bros will be only to happy to answer any questions that I can't!
I'm sure 'Chimpongas' will echo my words when he sees this post. And as a result, I am extremely pleased with the work, cosmetically and performance wise. And without question would not hesitate to recommend these guys. Thank you to all at Lloyds!
Regards
Paul

Hi Paul,
Glad to hear you have finally got your Griff behaving itself at low speeds, from what I have read you have had nightmare with this over the last year or so.
Engine bay looks really tidy with the new install. Only thing I would look at would be removing the old lamdas and putting in a couple of bolts to seal which would look neater.
Did you get a before and after dyno result. You should have gained a chunk of mid range torque now you have mapped ignition timing.

Matt, You are right about the old lamdas, I was given the option, but thought leave them in. But could change any time! The option is there to do!! Dyno... No I didn't, Rolling Road would have to be done else where. I was told I would get a little more power. Then again at the Neil Garner show in 2012, the North London Dyno company (same as used at Griff Gowl) had it and produced 304bhp in 3rd. They too remarked it was the best 'pulling' engine out of all the Griff's that they tested that day. And came out with a line, " Has Neil played with this engine" To which I replied, "Yes!" - " No wonder!" They replied. I am very lucky to be equal distance between Neil Garner north of me and Lloyd Bros south of me!!
Word of caution, Watch out for the 'Essex Gang', the 'gunning for you!!!' They know mine 'pulls like a train' and what with your remarks in recent print with 'Yours pulling like a rocket!' Those Speed Sixers from Essex need 'putting in their place!!!!' LOL Have a word for me, when you see them!!

You should get a nice comparison for the ECU when you dyno the car on at the 2014 Garner day then. I reckon the BHP will be up slightly but the main difference as I said before will be mid range torque which is what really counts day to day. It will be interesting to compare to see how the shape of the curves has changed.Dyno... No I didn't, Rolling Road would have to be done else where. I was told I would get a little more power. LOL - yes that did make me laugh how the editing team at Sprint chose that particular sentence to highlight "The car has always pulled like a train but now it goes like a rocket" I don't doubt that has attracted the attention of certain piss-taking Essex folk

Gaz and Baz (NLD) will be at the Growl if you're free (just so you can do a low key test).LOL - yes that did make me laugh how the editing team at Sprint chose that particular sentence to highlight "The car has always pulled like a train but now it goes like a rocket" I don't doubt that has attracted the attention of certain piss-taking Essex folk

Just to echo the good words about Lloyds...
Not long had mine back from them after the exact same installation.
I simply would not let anyone else near my Chimaera now.
This must be the best installation out there now for TVR's. As you say, the car is transformed in to a perfectly behaving supercar & the quality of work is light years 'better than factory' without question.

They have their own development Chimaera.

They are also doing development work on RV8 heads & have had some very interesting results comparing the 'Merlin' heads with the ported RV8 stuff..........

Nice one
can honestly say bad news travels fast in these circles but I have heard nothing but praise about these boys
which is a good thing with the motor trade
especially TVR
Agreed! They deserve to do well. Polite, professional, nothing too much trouble, pride, conscientious. Need I say any more!

especially TVR Excellent work. Must be about the best upgrade you can do to these cars to get them running spot on, and there certainly is a noticeable difference in performance from out n out power to smooth shuntless running low down.
And you can now forget trying to get hold of quality caps, rotor arms etc that seem to be causing so many issues these days.

True words Carsy on all accounts. Personally for me, I have more than enough power especially on the English roads!! It's just reliability and smooth running with the added burble from the V8 ..... Now sorted! Oh joy!And you can now forget trying to get hold of quality caps, rotor arms etc that seem to be causing so many issues these days.
