Right.... I've finally got a set up I'm happy with.... 7x17 fronts with the correct offset, and 8x17 rears with correct offset....

Been out for a blast this afternoon, and the car feels great, no rubbing, and nicely balanced... Can get full lock, no scrubbing and car steers so much better then with the old 8" wide fronts......smile

BUTfrown..... Despite fronts and rears being RL7,s, I'm not sure I like the spoke mismatch between front and rear....

Have a look and see what you think

FRONT

REAR

SIDE

Oh....and if anyone wants the same set up, I have another full set as fitted to my car available....(fully refurbed)smile

hi Quinny cant you create an illusion on the front wheels so they look more like the back wheels? wheel paint?

Mmm not something I've even thought of Ian.... I can see how it could work, but I've just spent a wedge getting them all refurbed.....

I can live with it, because it's driving so well, but I'd certainly prefer a better match front to rear...... Oh wellsmile

Well they are clearly from different batches and casts. I agree it doesn't look right. The rears are like mine but the fronts look like some I've seen on a few early Tuscans. Are any of the others you've got a better match?

Hi Quinny

If you've got 2 sets of wheels, why don't you just run a set with the same diameter? Then the spoke pattern will match. The Griff SEs had the same diameter F-R…….
Just put a spacer in where needed?

I assume you mean width? He's got 17" F & R.

Do you think it's the different widths causing the different spoke style? I suspect it's more likely wheels from different cars. I know Subarus and some Fords also used RL7s

Personally I don't think it's that obvious, if it drives right I'd leave it alone and enjoy it.

Maybe it's only noticeable to me because I looked into every possible detail about RL7s 14 years ago when I fitted mine.

Ok..... All 8 wheels are 17" diameter.....

4 of them are 8" wide...... Which is to wide for the front.....but fine for the rear
The other 4 are 7" wide.... So fine for the front, but to narrow for the back...

So I've put 2x8" on the rear,
And 2x7" on the front.....

The problem is, that it's the first time I've felt really confident in the handling..... With my new shocks, and the wheels the way they are now, it feels spot on...... And believe me, it got pushed hard today, and it felt brilliant...

It never felt right to me with 8" on the front.....

So Quinny - have all the 7" width rims got the fatter spoke style and all the 8" width the thinner style? scratchchin

p.s. only taking a close interest in case I ever trash one of my rims and need to search out a replacement. Nice to know what's what.

Due to the amount I've spent refurbing, and trying to get a good set up....... This is the option I'm taking....smile

I was just wondering if the differences were as obvious to everyone else as they are to me......

I'm pretty certain it'll only be TVR guys that pick up on it...... I had to explain the differences in detail to my next door neighbour..... And after 10 minutes he went....."oh yeah, I can see it now" hehe

Personally I think they look fine!

Mind you, I still prefer Estoril's on the Griff.
