Made you look hehe

There's a couple of maps in the making showing owners locations and a couple of people, unnecessarily in my opinion, are worried about it being a blueprint for car thieves. Got me thinking about whether these cars are ever really targeted by thieves, anyone know of or had a TVR stolen? Just wondered about the numbers really, I would think any thefts would be more opportunistic than targeted.

Yes you did git! biggrin

I looked as I'd never heard of one being stolen so was intreaged as to the circumstances.
Does raise the question, has anyone ever had one stolen or know of someone that has?

Assuming they can get in them, start them and leave without alerting anybody.

Doubt There is a market for stolen TVR's much easier stealing a modern car and shifting it on I would imagine.

Who on earth would make those maps? For what purpose? I'd take a very dim view of it if I were included on such things....

There was a thread I do remember about a TVR being stolen and another about an attempt, but they are very rare things happening.

Touch wood I can't see this being an issue for me smile Garage super secure and more than likely they won't know how to start the car or get in and then there's driving a 124db bright orange TVR without being seen lol smile modern cars are stolen, easier to shift as most car thieves are looking for a quick turnaround or stolen to order. Sagaris owners need to worry tongue out

Had an attempted theft of my TVR S1, whilst parked on the street, shoved a screw driver though the fibreglass just above the door handle.
Didn't get in however

My Wife keeps saying that I should have them alarmed etc I always think if it was stole they would be the easiest of cars to trace unless they went in a Garage and where never used and not that easy to create a ringer from I guess our Classic insurance policies cost reflects that as well
Even if they changed the colour and took her out as soon as someone put it on the spotted TVRs thread it would be found and if they added a Number where do you find a registration to pop on it the reflects the same car make and model ?

About 3 years ago some scroate tried to break into my Chim.
They had a go at the window, appears they pulled the window away at the back near the hood.
Then they put their hand through the (then knackered hood - the plastic screen came away from the stiching).
Looks like they got spooked but who knows.

The only thing visible was the original tape stereo no attempt to actually make of with it but the alarm had gone off.

A couple of years back I put my location on a map (can't remember which one now), but it was just a general location and not a pinpoint address.

TVRs' biggest threat of being stolen is from that most disliked car enthusiast - the joyrider.

The problem is all you need to steal most TVR's is a pair of outriggers.

would you really want to attempt to steal a car that has a good chance of breaking down by the time you get it around the first corner, if it starts at all biggrin

Had dealings a while back with someone who had stolen a Tuscan, belonged to a judge, which might explain the 7 yrs he got.
